TOP TEN QUESTIONS ABOUT APPRENTICESHIP

  • Put simply, an apprenticeship is a kind of work-based training that includes paid on-the-job experience, classroom instruction, mentorship, and a portable credential (similar to a degree or diploma).

  • Not necessarily. While Registered Apprenticeships are the gold standard in the United States, some companies choose not to register their programs for one reason or another. This does not mean the apprenticeship is sub-standard; it just means you might not receive all the benefits guaranteed by a Registered Apprenticeship Program–like a portable credential.

As with any other important career decision, you should weigh your options, ask lots of questions, and consider your future goals.
